Glass partition walls have been an increasingly popular element in construction and rehabilitation. Whether for their versatility or for the modernist character they project in environments, they can respond to completely polyvalent and distinct uses, convincing and solving various architectural constraints present in many exercises.

Thus, before being an element that can be considered and defined as a fashion or trend, it is, above all, something that responds and helps the passage of natural light, particularly in spaces with small dimensions or limited by the number of windows.

In offices, curiously, it has been a good strategy, allowing all spaces to receive natural light. Thus, besides giving a wide and light character to the environment, it also gives a comfortable and cozy look, resulting in an open-space image.

In the field of rehabilitation, in Portugal, we also have several exercises where we work with very reduced areas and conditioned in terms of space. In this sense, the use of these partitions is an added value and responds in a super viable way. On one hand, it has the ability to define and organize various environments, both collective and private, and on the other hand, it allows the passage of light between different partitions.

The visual privacy of each space can then be worked on in several ways, from the use of curtains, blackouts or even intelligent glass.

The same exercise has been increasingly used in hotel rooms, where the bathrooms of the respective rooms have this type of partition.

The intention is also to expand the space, and glass has this characteristic of causing the sensation of transparency, which in turn provides a sense of continuity. Another added value is to improve communication between your guests.

It’s funny: I always identify this kind of layout as a Nordic register, but the truth is that lately I use it more and more in my projects and the result has pleased me a lot. Obviously, details such as a more minimalist frame always give a more elegant and sophisticated look, but they also end up making the product more expensive. Still, it is a worthwhile detail that makes a difference.
